Droid Doesn't support security features -Finally FIXED!

Postby ShiftPoint » Wed Mar 03, 2010 8:16 pm

So after reading a lot of posts and many hours of researching.... I finally found the fix for the droid doesn't support security features. In my case it was actually and issue with the exchange server (2003) . We had an ssl cert and it was working correctly. My HTC Eris running cupcake 1.6 would sync but the droid 2.0 wouldn't sync. I just happened to be reviewing the event logs and noticed a lot of errors for the user account that I was trying to setup. It read:

Unexpected Exchange mailbox Server error:

So after some googling of that error.... i found the following microsoft kb on how to fix that error.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817379

Do method #2 -- Here's the deal.... when i started all the steps in "Disable the forms-based authentication for the Exchange virtual directory" was already completed. Might not be in your case but complete it anyways.

This step is KEY: "Create a secondary virtual directory for Exchange server" in #8 it tells you to create a virtual directory called "exchange-oma". In my case there was already a virtual directory with that name. So i created a new one called "exchange-oma2". and followed the rest of the steps.

Sure enough the Motorola droid synced right up. All the contacts and emails came over. The calendar didn't come over but i'm still working on it. Why the android os prompts an error message that states "your phone doesn't support security features" us beyond me, but this fix worked for me! :D

Let me know if this works for you.

Also i do want to mention that completing this step caused webmail to break. Under "Disable the forms-based authentication for the Exchange virtual directory" .... step #5 make sure you keep the"Forms Based Authentication" box checked or users won't be able to log in via webmail.
